Test of Infant Motor Performance (TIMP)

This assessment tool has been designed not only for therapist use and knowledge, but has also been a reliable and interactive tool for parents to observe and learn from secondary to the use of pictures, descriptors, and insight into what future skill set development and performance looks like for your infant. This assessment tool also incorporates real-world context, giving you the opportunity to involve intervention services and activities throughout your daily lives.

Consists: 42 items - 13 items that are sectioned out as spontaneous behaviors; 29 items of “how much” the infant was able to perform⁷

Scoring:  Ranges from 0-5 based on observation - total scoring completed by adding observation and administered items falling within a standard deviation (SD)⁸

  • Average - Scoring within 1 SD

  • Low Average - Scoring within 0.5 SD

  • Below Average - Scoring within -1 SD

  • Far Below Average - Scoring within -2 SD
